Do Not Buy These 6 Things on Black Friday

24/7 Wall St. lists the worst deals of retail’s busiest day

You may be looking to spend less this holiday season—a Gallup poll says buyers will shell out an average $704 on presents, down from $770 last year—so 24/7 Wall St. wants to help you out. In order to get the most bang for your buck this Black Friday, leave these 6 items on the shelf:

1. Toys: Avoid them like the plague. They’ll be cheaper in December, especially in the 2 weeks before Christmas.
2. High-end TVs: It’s the lower-end ones that will be priced to sell. Steer clear of electronic accessories, like HDMI cables, too, which are priced high to make up for those cheap TVs.

3. Winter clothes: If you need a warm coat, shell out the cash, but you’ll see lower prices come spring.
4. Holiday decor: You won’t necessarily have to wait until after the holidays to get a good deal on decorations. Stores are ready to sell low in late December.
5. Gas grills: They’re well out of season, which means you’ll be looking at limited stock. It’s better to buy in September, when you’ll have more options at better discounts.
6. Fitness gear: You’d be wise to wait until January, when retailers try to woo those who have resolved to get fit.
